Things a christian woman can learn from a pickpocket (who is also possibly a prostitute)

I watched the movie version of Oliver! yesterday (i am also currently reading oliver twist) and discovered that there's alot to be learned from Nancy Sikes (Bill's wife) by way of character and values/morals, despite her being a thief, barmaid and possibly also a prostitute. I'd like to hear your thoughts on these observations, whether you agree or disagree.

Firstly is the obviously Christian value of forgiveness. Bill is forever abusing Nancy and yet she goes back to him time after time (whether this forgiveness derives from his apparent need of her, or her love for him, or both, i don't know).
Secondly, selflessness. She wants the best for Oliver even if it means that he betrays herself, Bill, Fagin and the boys. She wants him to have the best life that he can possibly have.
Probably the ultimate thing we can learn from Nancy are the two qualities that for her go hand in hand (as they probably do for many others, including myself), courage and self-sacrifice. She displays two major acts of self-sacrifice, both leading to abuse and ultimately murder at the hands of her husband. Once, she refuses to go to try and bring oliver back to Fagin and bill beats her to the point of near unconciousness, the second time she tries to take oliver back to mr. brownlow and nearly succeeds, but bill followed her and murdered her.

Nancy is one (albeit fictional) woman i look up to as a role model, and i strive every day to posses the qualities that she does: forgiveness, selflessness, courage and self-sacrifice. What do you think (men, this applies to you, too)?
